Direct hire is the practice of recruiting a person directly for a permanent job within a company, without the use of third-party middlemen such as staffing agencies or recruitment organizations. In a direct hiring scenario, the employer is solely responsible for the candidate's recruiting, selection, and onboarding. They handle the full hiring process in-house, including advertising job openings, finding and screening people, conducting interviews, negotiating employment conditions, and issuing job offers. Direct hiring is frequently utilized for long-term job openings and critical jobs inside a corporation.

Example

A firm opts to recruit a software engineer directly for their development team. They generate a job opening, publicize it on their website and relevant employment forums, and then assess applicants immediately. The HR staff conducts interviews, evaluates the candidates' qualifications and suitability for the post, and ultimately chooses the best candidate. The employer then negotiates employment details such as pay, perks, and start date before extending a job offer directly to the selected candidate. In this situation, the direct hire procedure gives the corporation complete control over the recruiting and hiring decisions, guaranteeing a smooth transition of the individual into the organization.
