Organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) refers to an employee's voluntary actions that go beyond fundamental work obligations to benefit the organization and its colleagues. These are desirable activities that assist the organization but are not included in the employee's job description.
Example
When an employee assists his or her coworkers with their work without being requested to do so. This employee can supply useful knowledge, aid with issue resolution, or help colleagues complete their task. Another employee can give ideas to enhance work procedures, participate in volunteer activities, or suggest ways to increase the organization's efficiency. All of these are positive practices that help both the company and its personnel.
